'Global Warning' is an environmentally dependent sound art installation producing location specific real-time sound. 'Global Warning' is also a comment on current environmental affairs and their visible effects on our immediate future. The function of the installation is not only intended to fulfil auditory and visual aesthetics and raise awareness of global issues, but also to serve as a barometer, communicating changes in local environmental factors. 

To highlight the environmental issues involved in global warming, the work reacts to three environmental factors, temperature, air purity and dangerous UV radiation levels. These factors and their intensities are then communicated to the listener via melodies played on the chimes. The melodies should prove to be sufficiently varied that changes can be noted easily, yet regular enough to enable recognition of melody and hence facilitate an understanding of the environmental factors in change.
